HAVE A HEALTHY HEART: Cardiovascular Diseases



For about 42 million people, estimated in the US suffer due to cardiovascular diseases. Almost everyday, a 4, 000 numbered of people suffering from heart attacks and about 1, 000 have strokes. Because of such incident, it causes more than 700, 000 deaths each year.




Cardiovascular illnesses generate when normal flow of blood through the heart and through the body is clogged in the some way. Then as a result, the heart, kidneys and other vital organs may be harm. Heart attacks, strokes, congestive heart failure, and high blood pressure are just the common forms of cardiovascular diseases.

Signs of small stroke include sudden, temporary dimness of the face, arm and leg on one side of the body. The remedy for stroke requires surgery, drugs, and physical therapy.


High blood pressure. The force of the blood against vessels walls as the heart pumps is what you call the blood pressure. Hypertension then maybe defines as blood – pressure levels consistently above 140/90. It is often called as the silent disease since there are no real warning symptoms of hypertension. Proper diet along with cutting amount of salt used is a necessary ways to take control blood pressure.



As of now, there are a lot of major modern health hazards that may begin in young people. Later in life, especially among people who indulge in an unhealthy life – style, these hazards sometimes resulted in the above mentioned diseases. Left and Right Brains



Though the two halves of the brain look the same, evidence shows that they have totally different functions. The left one controls the right side of the body, and the right brain controls the left side of the body. The two halves of the brain also have different means of thinking. Left part of the halves can be called the logical brain. While you’re reading these words, your left brain comprehends their meaning. It also recognizes groups of letters as words and as group of sentences. Your left brain has the capacity to do the arithmetic. In fact, it’s the left brain that has the same function as a computer. People who excel in math and science use their left brains a great deal.

What does the right brain do then? Whenever you draw a picture or listen to music or recognize a face without putting a name to it, your right brain is the one involved. If the mathematicians use their left, the artist and musicians use their right brains a great deal. This information first started when the doctors began to perform operations to cure epilepsy. The operation has isolated the two halves of the brain and this allowed the researches to study the separate functions of the two halves. With the use of EEG readings, there is more information that are now being gathered about the different functions of the right and left brains.

There is more activity in the left hemisphere when you are writing a letter and in the right hemisphere when you are drawing a picture. There is some nerve activity on both sides during any kind of activity though the activity on one side is usually greater than the other.

Hearing Presbycusis



A lot of deadly viruses, cancers and so many illnesses are now arising from different place with unknown reasons that brought us awareness of our health status. And because those are harmful and dangerous we more focus on it neglecting the other knowing that it may bring more danger.
Nowadays, people were more conscious of some parts of their body disregarding the other.

Public Health: Familiar with “Love Canal?”






Are you familiar of the story “Love Canal?” Love Canal is a small community located near at Niagara Falls, New York. In 1976, a heavy rains soaked the earth and flooded the basements of the area, soon afterward, gardens began to die, pets became sickly, then the people. Over the next two years, residents had suffered from high rates of miscarriages, birth defects, cancer, and other ailments. Why did this happen?

The Love Canal society had been built in a forgotten toxic dumpsite. And during the flooding, the water was mixed up with the chemicals seeping from the toxic wastes buried there over twenty years earlier. At the end, the President declared the Love Canal as a disaster area. The place is but one of example to show unto us how the environment can affect public health. Tragedies as of this could have been prevented if the environment and public health become everybody’s concern.



What is a Public Health? Public health includes efforts to protect and promote total well – being on an individual, local, state, national, or international level. An organized group of doctors, and other professionals, scientists, public officials, and consumers are working together to achieve better health for everyone.

Now a day, through the Department of Health and Human Services and other agencies, the federal government is involved in every phase of public health. The public health department functions as medical care programs, disease detection, environment health programs, patient facilities and services and lastly as a support services.


In 1948 the United Nations formed the World Health Organization (WHO) to “raise the physical and mental health of all people.” WHO sponsors projects for infectious disease control and immunization in generating countries. The organization also concerned with improving nutrition and sanitation, as well as training public – health.

Most of us love to drink soda that’s why it became one of the world’s favorite beverages. Each year, billions of gallons of soda are sold in one country alone. Although it is popular with men, women, and children, experts believe that drinking soda may bring serious health problem. And probably, many soft drinks lovers are aware that it is bad in their health.

I think we need to know more about this drink that we love.
So here are the reasons why we chose to drink soda:

Its taste could be the one thing that gets us addicted in drinking soda, it is delicious and savory. As matter of fact, it is good that people drink it every after meal!

Depression: Determining Physical Symptoms




A lot of us or rather most of us can determine the emotional symptoms of depression. But you may not have the ides that depression can cause physical symptoms, too.
As a matter of fact, most of the people with depression feel pain or physical symptoms. And these are the following:



Headaches. These conditions are just fairly common in people with depression. And if you had migraines, it may worse if you are depressed.

Afraid of CANCER?





One life to love.
Cancer takes one person every moment. They could be our sisters, brothers, parents, our loved ones; any person could be taken by cancer. It doest look on your status, if you were strike by it, suffer. Everyday cases of cancer were reported in different countries and yes, cases of deaths were in it.



But how does one person catch a cancer?



Cancer is a class of diseases in which a group of cells display uncontrolled growth (division beyond the normal limits), invasion (intrusion on and destruction of adjacent tissues), and sometimes metastasis (spread to other locations in the body via lymph or blood). There are different types of cancer: Cancer of the skin, Cancer of the bone, breast cancer, cervical cancer, brain cancer and Cancer of the lungs, are just some of the many cancer cases people suffered nowadays. Yet medicines are so inadequate and insufficient for the needs of many lives. There were cases of cancer that last up to weeks, months and if lucky years but still end up to same word, death. Frustrations it is. But there were also cases of survivors. A testimony of a sister in Christ serve as a truth that believing on to the ultimate healer would not be in vain. Faith in him is what only needed. Nothing is impossible to the creator.

Sis Edith, a Christian, believer of God have suffered from breast cancer but now as to her testimony, she’d been one of the many cencer survivors. She is now free disease-free. Faith and trust did help her to continue fighting that cancer. With the help of friends and people who loved her, she has got enough strength to continue. "Indeed, where we are weak, there we are strong."- from the new testament's letter to the Corinthians. Proper intake of the prescribed medicine as well as healthy foods is important. Enough rest is also needed.

A testimony which gives enlightenment to people who suffer from this sickness. There’s always hope in everything. Trust God. He could turn impossible into possible things. God is Powerful.

Biblical Sanitation



LEVITICUS 13:46
All the days wherein the plague shall be in him he shall be defiled; he is unclean: he shall dwell alone; without the camp shall his habitation be.

There were a countless millions of people killed due to the horrible disease leprosy; and after which another sixty million life were taken by the Black Death. Through the leadership of the church which was given up by the physicians of the day was the plague brought under the control. And the church took the concept of contamination as its guiding as embodied in the Old Testament, Leviticus.

DEUTERONOMY 23:12, 13
"Thou shalt have a place also without the camp, whither thou shalt go forth abroad: 13 and thou shalt have a paddle upon thy weapon; and it shall be, when thou wilt ease thyself abroad, thou shalt dig therewith, and shalt turn back and cover that which cometh from thee:

Hygienic provisions during closer to the eighteenth century even in great capitals were quite archaic. It was the standard for evacuation to be abandoned on the dirty and polluted streets. Powerful foul odor clenched the villages and cities.

Through following God’s provision in Deuteronomy, diseases such as cholera, dysentery and typhoid fever could have been manipulated. A medical historian once writes that this directive is “certainly a primitive measure, but an effective one, which indicates advanced ideas of sanitation.”


NUMBERS 19:11-22
11 - He that toucheth the dead body of any man shall be unclean seven days.

12 - He shall purify himself with it on the third day, and on the seventh day he shall be clean: but if he purify not himself the third day, then the seventh day he shall not be clean.

13 - Whosoever toucheth the dead body of any man that is dead, and purifieth not himself, defileth the tabernacle of the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from Israel: because the water of separation was not sprinkled upon him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is yet upon him.

14 - This is the law, when a man dieth in a tent: all that come into the tent, and all that is in the tent, shall be unclean seven days.

15 - And every open vessel, which hath no covering bound upon it, is unclean.

16 - And whosoever toucheth one that is slain with a sword in the open fields, or a dead body, or a bone of a man, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days.

17 - And for an unclean person they shall take of the ashes of the burnt heifer of purification for sin, and running water shall be put thereto in a vessel:

18 - And a clean person shall take hyssop, and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it upon the tent, and upon all the vessels, and upon the persons that were there, and upon him that touched a bone, or one slain, or one dead, or a grave:

19 - And the clean person shall sprinkle upon the unclean on the third day, and on the seventh day: and on the seventh day he shall purify himself, and wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and shall be clean at even.

20 - But the man that shall be unclean, and shall not purify himself, that soul shall be cut off from among the congregation, because he hath defiled the sanctuary of the LORD: the water of separation hath not been sprinkled upon him; he is unclean.

21 - And it shall be a perpetual statute unto them, that he that sprinkleth the water of separation shall wash his clothes; and he that toucheth the water of separation shall be unclean until even.

22 - And whatsoever the unclean person toucheth shall be unclean; and the soul that toucheth it shall be unclean until even.


InShort :
NUMBERS 19:11-22 says, "He who touches the dead body of anyone shall be unclean seven days. ... Whoever touches the body of anyone who has died, and does not purify himself, defiles the tabernacle of the Lord. That person shall be cut off from Israel. He shall be unclean, because the water of purification was not sprinkled on him; his uncleanness is still on him. ... The clean person shall sprinkle the unclean on the third day and on the seventh day he shall purify himself, wash his clothes, and bathe in water; and at evening he shall be clean..."

In other words, if a medical practitioner would have only followed the above instructions early in the history many lives would have been saved.

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

What is Your Eating Habit?








What is your habit? Eating is loved by everyone (almost). A very yummy habit it is. One eats when he is happy and eats again whenever depressed. People eat every minute of their life, as if their stomach couldn’t be really contented.











How should one eat food? Would you prefer chewing it thoroughly or swallowing it immediately? Although chewing needs no explanation, a shocking number of people do not adequately chew foods they eat. People especially business minded one almost doesn’t have much time even for eating. Many times they eat easily chewed one and instant foods. Mostly because of rush they just swallow it without chewing thoroughly. Is it healthy to practice?






As we are eating lunch, together with my brothers and sister in faith this afternoon, a bro opened a topic about the healthy and proper eating etiquettes. According to him, one should chew food 15 times or more so the food would be grind and also so that the stomach could properly digest it. It prevents indigestion, gas and heartburn. It was also a good exercise for the gums which could prevent gum problems. I heard also that drinking should only be done after eating which is very opposite to the practice we have in the family, but I believe it’s not always counted as a good suggestion.





In eating we should always remember that it is very important to chew the foods we put into our mouth. We should also take into consider those foods that we input rather than just swallowing it. If we input junks in our body then it will manifest in us as well as inputting healthy foods. It is said that we are what we eat, so we should be aware of what we are eating. Life doesn’t just end in eating, healthy lifestyle starts in the foods we eat.
