Sit all day and suffer a stroke!

Did you know that when you are sitting, there is an important enzyme that is shutting down?

This enzyme is called LIPASE, which is responsible for the processing of the fats in your body. Once this shuts down, the processing apparently stops too. Veins will be blocked, causing heart diseases. This is one of the reasons why office workers, who sit in front of the computer the whole day, have weak heart. And yes, all "tamad" people are prone to suffer a stroke too. So if you want to have a heart failure, just sit all day!

From wiki: A lipase is a water-soluble enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of ester bonds in water–insoluble, lipid substrates. Lipases thus comprise a subclass of the esterases. Lipases perform essential roles in the digestion, transport and processing of dietary lipids such as triglycerides, fats, oils in most, if not all, living organisms. Genes encoding lipases are even present in certain viruses.

No Pain, No Gain!

Not everyone of course is certain that small steps could lead you all the way to good health. According to Marc Siegel, MD of a clinical associate professor at the NYU School of Medicine, while doing something is certainly better than doing nothing, making such small changes is like using a Band – aid to stop a hemorrhage.

“It is a small, gimmicky idea to target people with very unhealthy lifestyles, and for some it may be useful,” says Siegel, author of False Alarm: the Truth about the Epidemic of Fear. But he’s afraid that for most people, it’s sending the wrong message.

“In some way it is a resignation, an admission that things can not be changed – and that is certainly not the long – term answer,” Siegel tells WebMD.

Katz admits that the Stealth Health approach may not be right for everybody.

“There is a trade – off because if you try to make the pursuit of health easier for people, you run the risk of leading them to believe they don’t need to do very much --- and that would be the wrong message,” he says.

Meantime, Katz believes that for those who find out making changes a horrifying move, Stealth Health can make a change.

“If you want the really big gains, there has to be some pain,” says Katz. “But there is a lot to be said before the idea that you can make some gains with little or no pain, and that is infinitely better than no gains.”

Fun Facts: What Happens When You Laugh

Research confirms the following health benefits reaped from a hearty chuckle:

* Your heart and lungs are stimulated.

* You breathe deeper and oxygenate more blood.

* Your body releases endorphins, your own natural pain killers, and you produce more immune cells.

* You burn seventy-eight times as many calories as you would in a resting state.

* The residual effects of laughter are also something to smile about -- your muscles and arteries relax, which helps ease pain, and your blood pressure lowers and your pulse drops below normal, all of which some researchers think helps your digestion.

Aerobics for your health

Who doesn't know what aerobics is?
Do you still remember the "laughing stack" that you have on your television every morning? Those aerobics instructors sometimes look funny but I tell you, they are amazing! They are healthy. How about you? Do you feel like your body is the current laughing stack of everyone? Don't fret anyway... I've posted this to let you know that you can still do something about it.

What is aerobics?

Apparently, we all know what aerobics is, and what it is for; however, only few of us have the patience to do the routines. Now let's talk about aerobics and let us be convinced that it is an effective way of keeping our body healthy.

wikipedia says...

"Aerobics is a form of physical exercise that combines rhythmic aerobic exercise with stretching and strength training routines with the goal of improving all elements of fitness (flexibility, muscular strength, and cardio-vascular fitness). It is usually performed to music and may be practiced in a group setting led by an instructor, although it can be done solo and without musical accompaniment. With the goal of preventing illness and promoting physical fitness, practitioners perform various routines comprising a number of different dance-like exercises. Formal aerobics classes are divided into different levels of intensity and complexity. Aerobics classes may allow participants to select their level of participation according to their fitness level. Many gyms offer a wide variety of aerobic classes for participants to take. Each class is designed for a certain level of experience and taught by a certified instructor with a specialty area related to their particular class."

DID YOU KNOW THAT :

Either aerobic or resistance training alone improves glycemic control in type 2 diabetes, but the improvements are greatest with combined aerobic and resistance training.

Aerobics has been among the most popular forms of physical exercise in the United States, spawning the growth of memberships in exercise gyms and studios or clubs, generating a large commercial market that includes celebrity exercise videotaes, aerobic gear, DVDs, and now, free videos shared in the internet.

What does aerobics do with your body?

It helps you produce and maintain an elevated heart rate for a prolonged period of time, so as the pumping will have an increased amount of oxygen-rich blood to the active muscles. Some aerobic activities that can be done are swimming, running, and cycling. These can improve your body's use of oxygen, which can later allow your heart to work less strenuously.

The ROUTINES...

"Since the 1980s, the term has indicated a specific type of physical fitness routine that involves a fast-paced series of exercises usually performed to the accompaniment of music."
